Ever Wondered What Happens If You Stop Using Shampoo For A Year?

ow many of you are familiar with the 'No-poo' trend that is going on lately?

No-poo is short for no-shampoo, and it promotes washing hair with no shampoo or soap. So there are people who are using no shampoo and flaunting that fabulous hair. They indeed look healthy and not dull. But why?

People are adopting this technique to get rid of all the toxic chemicals that the shampoos leave in our hair. This method even includes letting your scalp build its natural oil that moisturizes the scalp. And when you wash your hair less frequently, your hair gets moisture eventually because of the oil, leaving them organically conditioned.

You will be amazed to read what girls all over the world say about this technique. A user posted a question on Quora asking what would it be like if you do not use your shampoo for washing your hair? And the answers were amazing. Let's have a look at what they say.

Washing hair without soap or shampoo has made no difference.

A user mentioned that washing her hair without soap or shampoo has made no significant difference. She said, she has been using water to clean her hair and since then there has been no persistent odor, staining on the pillowcase or even scalp itchiness.

I'll tell you a secret, I haven't used soap for quite a long time now.

Another user claims shampoos to be highly toxic.

Your hair will feel disgusting.

Yes, for people who have an oily scalp or the ones that tend to have a scalp that sweats a lot. But that happens because you have always used soap or shampoo to clean your hair. Your scalp will get used to the 'only water' phenomenon.

"Used only water to wash my hair for 10 months or so and only sodium bicarbonate to wash my hair."

According to a user, the surfactants used in the commercial shampoos strip your manes off its natural oils. But ever since she started using baking soda, her hair has never been healthy, rich, clean and itch free.

A girl mentioned she used only apple cider vinegar to wash her hair and the result was amazing.

She added on by saying that there are more things to keep in check apart from keeping your hair away from shampoos and they are saying a strict NO to blow-dryer, curling irons and just letting your hair grow.

A girl even used a 1:1 mixture of baking soda and apple cider vinegar.

She added in tea and spices to make it smell good and it worked beautifully.

Massage your head.

You can easily go no-poo with simple massaging tricks. All you got to do is stand in a warm shower and brush your fingers through your hair giving a slight massage. She got rid of her flakes and dandruff really easily.

A backpacker's trick to tell is to use a bar of pears soap, camellia oil, and a scalp massage brush.

It's like going no-poo but using a soap with essential oils.

She doesn't feel her scalp being itchy or dried out when she stopped using shampoo or any other soap.

It took time but eventually, her hair feels clean and healthy. So, you see going no-poo is not harm but only if you know how to keep yourself clean. Using natural remedies would not strip your hair of its natural oils, and your hair will feel soft and beautiful.
