Cecil Chao is a Chinese billionaire and real estate mogul. Gaining his success through the development of luxury condos, high rises and properties in Hong Kong, the billionaire has money to spend and is not being shy about it. Chao is making international headlines (again) after offering $180,000,000 to the man who is willing to marry his daughter Gigi. Chao made headlines back in 2012 with an original offer of $60 million to the man who would marry his daughter. What you may be surprised to find out about his daughter:

3- Not only is she married, she’s been with her partner, Sean Eav, for over ten years.
Her father refuses to accept the relationship. Gigi married her partner in France in 2012 after being together for 9 years.
Gigi even wrote an open letter to her father in an attempt to reach out to him and accept the fact that she is a lesbian.
“As your daughter, I would want nothing more than to make you happy,” the letter read.
“But in terms of relationships, your expectations of me and the reality of who I am, are not coherent,” the letter continues.
“I know it’s difficult for you to understand how I could feel romantically attracted to a woman; I suppose I can’t really explain it either.”
“It just happens, peacefully and gently, and after so many years, we still love each other very much.”
In the letter she asks her father to accept her sexuality. “’Now, I’m not asking you to be best of friends; however, it would mean the world to me if you could just not be so terrified of her, and treat her like a normal, dignified human being.”
“I understand it is difficult for you to understand, let alone accept this truth,” she continues.
When Gigi got married in 2012, her father was shocked and asked her not to tell the public.
When the news came out that she had indeed married a woman and her father was offering $180,000,000 for a man to marry her, Gigi received offers from countless men all over the world.
“War veterans from the US, someone from Ethiopia, from Istanbul, South America, Portugal, really just from all over the world,” Gigi said about the offers.
Despite the fact that her father is against her sexual orientation as well as her marriage, she stands by the fact that she knows he is simply doing it out of love because he is looking out for her best interests.
“I understand that he loves me, it’s just he’s from another time and it’s difficult for him to understand the plight of the LGBT”, she said.
At one point, Gigi actually offered to agree to her father’s terms as long as the man promised to donate a large portion of the money to her charity. She also stated that the man must not mind that she already has a wife.

The Hong Kong billionaire himself has claimed to have slept with over 10,000 women and refuses to accept his daughter’s marriage to her partner.
Gigi has even stated in the past that she will not marry a man until her father marries a man himself.
Although there is tension between the two, Gigi knows that her father loves her. “At the office it’s business as usual. At family gatherings we hug and dance. And we just agree to disagree on what marriage is and family is,” Gigi explained.
