The Child Who Has Never Eaten A Gram Of Sugar – Here Is How She Looks Today

I know that a lot of you reading this article might laugh at the idea of having your child not eat anything that contains factory sugar.

Candy and cakes are just as much a part of a child’s life as unconditional love and care.

The sweet treats help make them behave, don’t they?

So why would any well-meaning parent deny their kids any of these?

You definitely had candy and chocolates as a kid, and here you are today, doing just fine.

In moderation, sugar does no one harm or does it?

Well, before we get into that discussion, it is important to state that the sugar that we are talking about is that which doesn’t exist in nature.

Like those in candies and cakes, not those that exist in fruits.

You see, with the advance in the scientific method of research, we are beginning to see the devastating effects of sugar on our health — both in the short and long term.

Young kids are becoming type 2 diabetics in an increasing number, which is pretty much alarming.

And that is because this type of disease is often regarded as an old folk disease.

So, because of this, an increasing amount of people become intentional when it comes to their nutrition.

They are choosing to go the healthy route rather than having a chunk of their meals be junk food.

And as these set of people become parents, you can bet that they would transfer this mentality of eating healthy to their kids.

And so if you have ever thought of the possibility of raising a child without sugar, then Grace Cooper will tell you that it can be done.

In fact, it has been done.

Now, Shan Cooper is a mother of a 2½-year-old child who hasn’t tasted any type of factory-made sugar, ever!

So naturally, the next question is ”How did she do it?”

Well, she just did it.

You see, Grace has said that she will keep it this way till the child (who by the way goes by the name Grace) has grown to chose whatever she wants to eat or not to eat.

Shan, who is Grace’s mum, has said that this would lay out the groundwork for a strong foundation for healthy eating habits.

And to be honest, this makes a whole lot of sense.

The mum goes on to say, “If she eats a piece of bread I’m not going to have a conniption,” Shan had said in a Daily Mail interview when Grace was just a year and 1-month old that “She’s going to go to kids’ parties and eat what’s there. I’m never going to go to Grace, ‘You can’t eat anything at this party, but I packed you some kale, here you go.’”

So, what made Shan take the route she took?

You see, Shan had always had problems with food allergies, and it came to a point where she decided to let go of gluten, dairy, and other artificial foods.

And so when she became a mum, it was only natural to pass that kind of healthy eating to her child.

Now, what does her diet contain?

First off, this is what her diet doesn’t consist of — grains and dairy.

Shan says that Grace has had only one cold despite playing constantly with kids who have a running nose.

And that is really amazing for a child her age.

Shan attributes Grace’s strong immune system to the diet she has.

She goes on to say that most adults who have a problem eating healthy food usually have other problems that they deal with but resort to emotional eating to numb their pain.

And so she plans to teach her daughter that eating the right foods will make her be healthy and feel strong and that food shouldn’t be used as a drug to escape the pains of reality.

She also says that she is doing what she is doing so that her daughter would hopefully know the difference between a sugar high from candy and the likes versus a calm and collected mind that comes from eating healthy and natural foods.

Although she is doing the best she can to give her kid the best bet at a healthy life, she isn’t detached from reality.

Shan goes on to say that she knows that her daughter would come home one day stuffed with sugar only to say ‘mum I don’t feel very well.’”

But Why Do This? Why Is It Important?

You see, kids learn almost everything they do from WATCHING and not necessarily listening to their parents.

And that includes lifestyle choices such as eating healthy foods.

So, having parents who don’t take their health seriously or eat whatever just feels good for the tongues would be a big obstacle in a child who wants to go the healthy route.

And that is why it is important that parents take the initiative to break the cycle of disease by eating right.

A doctor once said that most so-called genetic diseases are genetic because children follow the same lifestyle that made their parents sick.

A saying thus goes, ” Obesity doesn’t run in your family, your family just doesn’t run. ”

The Critiques Are Baying For Blood.

You see, a lot of skeptics are saying that the removal of grains and legumes from Grace’s food can’t be necessarily a good thing as they feel she isn’t getting enough of the nutrients her body needs.

But Shan says that for every unhealthy food she has taken out of Grace’s food, she has replaced with natural nutrient dense foods.

And is confused as to why people would regard that as being an unhealthy choice.

It is important to note here that one must do his/her due diligence research-wise before making such diet changes to their meals or that of their kids.

That is if you want to come out the whole ordeal with a healthy body.

As for Shan, she isn’t one who is forcing her type of diet down anyone’s throat. Neither does she feel like she is automatically better than others for choosing to cut out sugars.

She just wants to empower other parents to eat healthy foods that would put them in the position to have the best life they can have.
