Useless things are just awful. I mean, the whole point of “Things” is to be useful! We live in a modern, utilitarian society where it’s weird to walk around and just see useless things. I’m trying to be a productive cog in the society machine here, and seeing something that has no function that no one asked for kind of makes me want to rebel. Stop punching the clock and move to the plains, live in a yurt. That kind of thing.
