It’s said that when someone lives somewhere for their entire life, their spirit remains in their home well after they depart. But for a home in Hertfordshire, UK, known as the Crooked Cottage, spirits weren’t the only thing left behind.
The creepy old home was occupied from 1956 until 2003 by a woman and her father. Nine years after they left, urban explorer and photographer Toby Batchelor took a journey inside the home. What he found sent a shiver down his spine.
You can immediately tell that the place is completely disheveled.
It’s covered in cobwebs. Was 2003 really that long ago, or did the problems begin before the residents left?
How could it get to this point in less than a decade?

There’s something really eerie about that oven just sitting out in the open.
The place is still stacked with dishes.
This may have been a nice piano many years ago, but nothing lasts forever.
It’s crazy to think that somebody used to sleep here.
I really wouldn’t want to look under that bed.
You can tell this once a really nice place to live. Not so much now.
The most disturbing part has to be that the double bed was still made. Maybe someone is waiting to come back to it??
